I've decided the new skill I want to cultivate in 2025...

This month I'll be sharing about our Christmas Shop! If you don’t want to get any shop-related emails this month, but you want to stay on my email list, just click this link!

Hey Reader,

The older I get, the more interested I am in learning skills that produce either heirloom items (like a hand crocheted blanket) or that pass along knowledge and skill (like canning and gardening)!

For awhile now, I've become increasingly interested in a handicraft called punch needle. Now that I've gotten to play with it, I am sure that it will be the skill I want to cultivate in 2025!

I first stumbled upon the lovely Sallie from The Urban Acres almost 2 years ago on Instagram. She had a viral reel about making an actual real full size RUG with punch needle.

I had never even heard of punch needle before and here she was making an HEIRLOOM quality rug for her house that could be passed down to future generations. I was instantly hooked (even though I had never done punch needle).

I DREAM of one day making beautiful rugs for our family! Good quality rugs are super expensive anyway, why not make some amazing rugs to last that our family will cherish? (It turns out my Grandma was actually into rug hooking back in the day (the other name for punch needle), how cool is that?)

I found a cheap $5 “punch needle” kit at HB so I could try it out. Well, it was terrible lol. Every part of it was a cheap fake version of the real parts and it did not work very well. I thought maybe this wasn't the craft for me.

Eventually though, I got a REAL punch needle kit with the real tools, wool, and monk cloth and it was AMAZING! I instantly fell in love with this craft. There is definitely skill involved as you punch, but it’s 100% beginner friendly and opens the door for learning how to take on big projects like rugs, slippers, or pillows! It’s like an advanced color by numbers and SO satisfying!! 😍

These punch needle kits would make a terrific gift for kids and adults! It’s so simple my 7 year old could do it with a little direction.

The kits come with everything you need (including the punch tool) AND high quality easy video tutorials for every step! A complete beginner can easily pick these up and go!!

I am so excited to partner with Sallie from The Urban Acres (the SAME person I found 2 years ago making these incredible rugs) to offer four of her beginner kits in our Christmas Shop! 😍 Purchase from us and you’ll be supporting TWO family-run small businesses 🙌😍

--> Check out the four punch needle kits here!

Order through December 2nd or until the kits sell out. You can also check out my brand new Sourdough cookbook!! 🥳

Count down to 2024-12-03T04:45:00.000Z

in Christ,
Jami Balmet

Hey Reader, It’s been two long years since I’ve been able to grow a garden. Life shifted in big ways during that season. We relocated to North Carolina, and for a while I didn’t even have a yard, just a moving target and a lot of transition. Gardening simply wasn’t possible. And while that season held good things, I missed the soil deeply. Now, though, everything has changed. We’re on three-quarters of an acre. It’s flat. It’s usable. And my backyard is absolutely begging for a garden. Every...

Hey Reader, Over the past three months, we’ve intentionally pulled back in our business—not because things were failing, but because we wanted to do the opposite. We’ve been refining, pruning, and rebuilding behind the scenes so that Finding Joy in Your Home can be stronger, more robust, and running far more smoothly as we head into 2026. The last two years have been quite the journey of reshaping, and we are so grateful for God’s provision through every step. There are some big things in...
